HOKOWHITU SCHOOL.

ANNUAL PICNIC HELD. About 500 persons attended the annual picnic of the Hokowhitu School, which was held at the Awapuni racecourse on Friday, some 200 being parents. The weather was all that could be desired and an enjoyable day resulted. The arrangements were in capable hands, and ice-creams, sweets and fruits were provided for the children. Six municipal motor buses were employed in taking the party to the grounds, the same method being used for transport on the return journey. A sports programme, directed by the members of the staff, resulted as follows : Standard I.—Girls: Vera Dansby 1, Joan Spencer 2, Vivienne O’Keefe 3.
