CARNIVAL BALL.
To-night’s official ball marks the commencement of the final three weeks of concentrated activities in connection with the 1934 Queen Carnival, the proceeds of which arc being devoted towards the funds of the three musical organisations of this city. At an appropriate time during the evoning the three queen candidates will be piped through the hall and presented to the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs A. E. Mansford), who will declare the carnival open. The committees responsible for this function have catered for the tastes of followers of both modern and old-time dancing and a continuous alternative programme will be presented to patrons. The liiueio will bo a feature of the evening and will bo supplied by Larkin’s and Hammond’s, Loveday’s and Anderson s orchestras The supper arrangements are m the hands of the combined ladies’ committees of the three organisations and this in itself should be sufficient guarantee to patrons that this department will bo all that could be desired. Dancers are therefore assured of an enjoyable evening and excellent opportunity of assisting in a wotthy caufiO.
