WOODVILLE BOROUGH.
DIMINISHED STRENGTH OE COUNCIL. Reporting to tho AVoodville Borough Council this week, Mr D. Keay, as returning officer, stated that in accordance with the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1925, and its amendments, the extraordinary vacancies on the council had been duly advertised repeatedly without result. “The, position now is that the council may, pursuant to the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, appoint two councillors to fill the vacancies, or it may by resolution determine that the vacancies be not filled,” stated Air Keay.
The Alayor moved that the positions be not filled. Cr. Shearman seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously. Replying to Cr. Kenney, tliq Mayor stated "that the resolution applied only to the life of the present council.
