(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, Nov. 7. Mr IP. K. Tait, who is on a visit to Poxton, was a local resident until last year, when ho left on a visit to India. Miss M. Francis, of Wellington, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs J. C. P'raueis, of Main Street. Mr H. Walden, of ■ Greytown, is visiting his son, Mr S. I. Walden, of Thynno Street. Tlio Herrington Golf Club closed its 1934 season on Saturday when trophies won were presented as follow:—Championship Cup, Mr E. T. W ilson; runnerup, Mr B. Gavin. Ogilvy Cup: Mr E. ’l. YVilson; runner-up, Mr L. C. Bryant. Qualifying Round Cup (donated by Mr J. B. MaePhcrson), Mr L. C. Bryant. A meeting of tho Boy Scouts management committee was held on Tuesday. Scoutmaster H. Plainer reported that the whole of tho troop bad passed the tenderfoot test. As tho troop is in urgent need of funds for camping, ambulance and other gcar, it was decided that a shop day bo held. .

On Tuesday evening about forty young people met at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. F. Stevenson, Park Street, in order to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs Stevenson and Misses Stevenson. Miss M. Barron presented Mrs Stevenson with a bouquet.

The monthly social of the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild was held at the residence of Mrs D. Brooks on Tuesday. The hostesses were Mesdamcs Brooks, Heath, Reid, and G. Walls. Mrs D. R. Barron presided. A competition was won by Miss Jean Stevenson, a putting competition was won by Mrs Nockles, and a spoon and bail relay race by Mrs Popple. Afternoon tea was served by tho hostesses, assisted by Mrs F. Proctor and Miss C. Pleath. A bouquet, made and donated by Mrs F. Proctor, was presented to Mrs Stevenson by Mrs J. Ross. Bouquets were also presented to Misses Stevenson by Mrs D. Brooks. Mrs Barron expressed the keen regret of all the members at tho approaching departure from Poxton ol Mrs Stevenson and her daughters and asked Mis Stevenson to accept a brass fruit dish. Yesterday afternoon the first challenge match of tho season for the Awahou Feathers was played between a Lovm rink skipped by Langelan and Mattar’s rink. The result was a draw Thomas, A. Walls, D. Christie, Mattar (skip) 17 v. Hough, Powell, Capper, Langelan (slop) 17.. In a game for the Haydock Pins, the holders (F'rancis and Hcppncr) lost to Mairs and Thomson by 18 points to 14.
