A FULL PROGRAMME

A programme of many contrasts was carried out by the Duke of Gloucester to-dav. Beginning with an address to cadet's at the Flinders naval depot, the Duke visited the Commercial Travellers’ Club and had conferred upon him the honour of a “knighthood of the road.” His next visit was to the conference of the Empire Service League, where he was welcomed by men from all corners of the Empire, to whom he conveyed greetings from the Prince of Wales, whose message read: “No part of my tour of 1920 brings back such happy memories as the meetings with service men in Australia and New Zealand.”

His next engagement was the polo matches at the Moonee Valley racecourse. where he had luncheon with the officials. The Duke watched the games for four hours, returning to attend the State Government’s garden party and later a brilliant inaugural dinner for the new Lord Mayor (Alderman A. G. Wales).
