REFUSAL OF-ADMISSION.

THE PERTH INCIDENT,

MELBOURNE, Nov. 8

Mr R. G. Menzies, Federal AttorneyGeneral, replying to criticism regarding the prohibition! of the entry of Egon Edward Ivisch, Czechoslovakian author and journalist, at Perth, said that the Commonwealth felt itself under no obligation to admit persons of this type. Kisch was excluded from Britain because of subversive views and association with Communistic organisations. Mr Menzies also made pointed observations regarding the case of Mr J. Griffin, a New Zealand delegate to the anti-war congress, who was prevented from landmg at Sydney. Professor Murdoch declared at Perth that Australia had disgraced herself by excluding an author of international repute such as Ivisch, who was merely coming here as an anti-militarist. Professor Beasley said it w’as a sorry compliment to the intelligence of Australian people that they could not be trusted to think for themselves.
