FALL ON TO ROCKS.
LUCKY ESCAPE FOR TWO MEN
NEW PLYMOUTH, Nov. 8
Two employees of the Harbour Board had a miraculous escape from death or serious injury when the lorry in which they were riding plunged backwards over an 18ft. rock embankment at Port George. Messrs Robert Loveridge and Cyril Coxaell "Williams were seated in the truck when a third employee cranked the engine, which had been left in reverse gear. The lorry immediately plunged over the embankment into a few inches of water. Fortunately it was ebb tide, as at full tide the depth of water is about six feet. As the vehicle rolled over both men were thrown out on to the rocks. Mr Loveridge had two ribs and his wrist broken, and Mr Williams general abrasions. Both were taken to hospital.
