Though facing a diminished income due to the reduction in the emergency wage tax, the Unemployment Fund at September 30 had cash in hand of £1 821,952, which is almost double its total cash at the corresponding period last year. . The emergency tax produced m six months £2,451,738, compared with £2,010,712 for the corresponding six months of 1933. The expenditure in the i last six months, totalling £1,447,398, is less than that in the corresponding period last year to the extent of £228,607.
