POWER LINE POLE.

REQUEST FOR REMOVAL

LINE AT TOKOMARU

“Although the power line which you have been running from the Mukapai fiaxmill for about seventy chains to a pump on the hank of the Tokomaru Stream has been cut off for some considerable time, and is consequently dead, it requires immediate attention near the railway crossing,” stated a letter forwarded by the Horowhenua Electric. .Power Board to the Makerua Drainage Board to-day. “The second pole west of the railway is on the edge of the drain, the bank of which lias been scoured out. This pole is at present very dangerous, and requires moving immediately as, in the event of its falling, the adjacent poles at the railway would he subject to a heavy strain which might break the cross-arm and bring the wires down across the railway line. “Apart from that, should this line be required at any time, a considerable amount of repair work would have have to be done, as one pole has been burnt off. Willows which have grown up among the wires would have to be totally removed for about half a chain on each side.”

It was decided to seek permission from the Power Board for the Drainage Board overseer to remove the dangerous pole and give any other urgent attention required.
