ALL SAINTS’ CLUB
LADIES’ EVENING
There was a large attendance at the annual ladies’ evening promoted Dj All Saint’s Men’s Club. The guests included members of the choir, tne Ladies’ Guild, Mothers’ Union, and Girls’ Club, and wives of members. Other visitors were Mr and Mrs A. E. Mansford. Rev. and Mrs Pshire (Pongaroa), and Mr. and . Mrs S. Booth (Dover, England). Mr E. J. Whitehouse (vice-presi-dent) welcomed the visitors and wished them a pleasant evening. Many of the assembly enjoyed card games, arranged by Mr A. Goldfinch, in tlie club room, while other indulged in dancing in the infant schoolroom. Among the various diversions were a treasure hunt and items by Mr H. Wilson (songs) and Messrs Oliver and Renwick, the latter being a humorous skit on Messrs McGregor and Walker’s flight in the air race. Competitions were arranged and the winners were Mrs Booth, Mrs Thomas, and Mrs Wollerman. The mystery bus and Monte Carlo dance prizes were won by Mrs Livingstone and Miss Langridge. Messrs T. Smith and J. Pcnketh carried out the duties of M.G’.’s. Canon G. Y. Woodward (president) and Mr Mansford spoke in appreciative terms of the work of the Men’s Club, and thanked the hosts for the happy and enjoyable evening. Music for the function was rendered by Mr Wollerman, Mr F. Caple, and Mr G. Llovd. The supper arrangements were well carried out by the committee. The singing of the National Anthem brought the proceedings to a close. An announcement was made that a Christmas cheer evening would be held later in the month.
