ASHHURST HALL.

The Ashhurst Hall Committee wrote to the meeting of the Oroua County Council, to-day, asking permission to erect a public hall on a vacant section between the Anglican Church and an adjacent shop at Ashhurst. The committee set out the financial position of the hall building fund as follows : —Subscriptions received, £128; subscriptions guaranteed and being collected, £150; subscriptions promised, £4O; total £3lB. The cost of a partially completed hall, unfinished inside, was placed at £4OO, the balance to be arranged by the committee being £B2. On the motion of the chairman the council agreed to favourably consider the request, no objection being raised to the proposed site.
