BRITISH DRAMA LEAGUE.

An opportunity is being provided tho peoplo of Palmerston North to view somo of tho work of tho Women’s Institutes and local area of the British Drama Lcaguo at a festival to bo held in All Saints’ Hall on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening next. A large number of plays arc being presented by tho Women’s Institutes on Monday and Tuesday in competition, and on Wednesday evening the British Drama League is holding a festival of oneact dramas, when it is hoped that tho winning institute team will compete. Miss Elizabeth Blake has kindly consented to perform the task of judging the productions. On Monday evening, tho Linton branch ill play “Reunion,” by John Deane, whilst Pohangina presents “There Is No Return,” by Eric Bradweli. On Tuesday evening the Women’s Institute competition will bo continued when five teams representing Rangiotu, Foxton, Rangiwahia, Sandon and Bulls will present cne-act plays among which will be ‘The Legend, “Quito a Nice Cat,” and “The Finding of Rebecca.” Tho open festival of the Manawatu area of the British Drama League will take plaoe on Wednesday evening, August 8, when six teams repersenting Boys’ High School Club (“Mrs Noah Gives the Sign”), Nga Tawa branch of tho league (“Afternoon”), Y.W.C.A. Lyceum and All Saints’ Players will take _ part, and particular interest will bo taken m tho efforts of the W.E.A. (first act of “Arms and tho Man” by Bernard Shaw), and tho Manawatu County Club team which is presenting an allegory, “Symphony in Illusion by J. W. Bell. Plays commonco at 7 p.m. each evening and admission is permitted only at each half-hour thereafter.
