BRITISH AMBASSADOR.
LORD TYRRELL’S RETIREMENT. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 16. Lord Tyrrell’s long and distinguished career as British Ambassador in Paris ends to-day. He will return to London to-morrow. Sir John Simon, Foreign Secretary, in a telegram to Lord Tyrrell, says: “His Majesty’s Government wishes me to express to you its sincere thanks for your manifold and invaluable services. I should like to add an expression of my own gratitute for all the advice and assistance which you have afforded to me while I have been Secretary of State. Your constant contribution in maintaining and furthering Anglo-French relations is deeply appreciated by your fellow countrymen.” Lord Tyrrell replied: “I deeply appreciate the generous message from His Majesty’s Government, and beg you to accept for yourself and convey to your colleagues my great gratitude for their appreciation of my services. I very much regret the decision imposed upon me by my health to sever my official relations with you, which were always aimed at the maintenance and promotion of Anglo-French relations, so vital to the maintenance of the peace of the world.”
