I should like to add an expression of my own gratitute for all the advice and assistance which you have afforded to me while I have been Secretary of State. Your constant contribution in maintaining and furthering Anglo-French relations is deeply appreciated by your fellow countrymen.” Lord Tyrrell replied: “I deeply appreciate the generous message from His Majesty’s Government, and beg you to accept for yourself and convey to your colleagues my great gratitude for their appreciation of my services.
