THE HOCKEY SEASON
INCREASE IN ENTRIES. Indications point to hockey prospering locally this season and, with the visit of the Australian representatives ahead, players are looking forward to the the entry upon activities on May 2 with much enthusiasm. It had been intended to open the season in April, but owing to Anzac Day, the entry was delayed a week. This year seven teams will compete in the senior mid-week series, Massev College having entered teams in both grades, and the contesting clubs will be Central Old Boys, Phoenix, Palmerston North, Massey College, Combined Services, P.D.C., and Broadway. Four teams have also been entered for the junior series—Broadway, C. 0.8., Combined Services and Massey College. There is a possibility that a senior and junior team may be entered by Rongotea, whjcli has always been a strong supporting centre of hockey, and their inclusion would, without doubt, lie welcomed by the governing authorities.
