RESOLUTION AT TIMARU. Per Press Association. TiMARU, April 9. About seven hundred citizens wei present at a public meeting to-nigl called by the unemployment commi teo to discuss the unemployment prol lcm. Representative speakers discussc the matter from all angles. A res< lution was carried unanimously appea ing to the Government and the Ui employment Board to devise meai sufficient to place the unemployed an their dependants beyond the reach < the poverty and distress at present pr< vailing. It was suggested that coi sideration be given to the desirabilit of extending the principle of sub,sis enee payments where work is not avai able and that the unemploymcr funds be augmented if necessary by steeply graduated income tax.
