NEW COMMITTEES

FOR CITY SCHOOLS. CLOSING OF NOMINATIONS. Nominations for the election of committees of schools having an enrolment of 240 pupils or more closed last evening in preparation for the householders’ meetings. Five Palmerston North schools com ing within this classification received the nominations for committeemen who are oil this occasion to hold office for a two-year period, instead of an annual term, under the legislation passed last session. Elections will be necessary to determine the personnel of the incoming Hokowhitu and College Street Committees. For the other three schools, the number of nominations received does not exceed that of the vacancies available. Nominations are as follow, the names of sitting members in each case being marked with an asterisk :—- CENTRAL. Messrs IV. G. Black*, W. H. Cadwallader*, F. A. Cousins, David Dickie, G. Farrar, AY. Garden*, A. E. Kerslake*, F. G. Major, L. D. Simmonds*. The nine nominations received do not exceed the number of vacancies, and no election will be necessary. The retiring committeemen who are not seeking re-election arc Messrs R. Tait, C. E. Taylor, A. A. Gordon and G. H. Jarrett. TERRACE END. Messrs E. G. Bennett, H. Blackwood, J. Davidson*, R. C. Donald, C. It. Luke*, J. H. Nash*, AV. A. Petersen*, J. K. Pa-ton*, and AY. B. Tennent.* No election is necessary, the exact number required having been nominated. Retiring committeemen not seeking re-election are Messrs AY. L. Macpherson, J. Allen and H. It. Smith. HOKOWHITU. Messrs P. V. Burns*, H. AY. Cox*, AV. E. Cooper*, J. N. Cobb, J. B. Fleck*, G. N. liaw-ken, AY. Huntington, J. E. Johnson, K. A\ r . Jones, E. A. S. Melville, 11. C. Medway*, G. Richardson* and E. D. Tucker. Thirteen nominations having been received, including those of six sitting members, an election will be necessary to fill the nine vacancies. Messrs A. AV. A"ortt, C. K. Lane and L. Tremaine*.

No election will be necessary. Messrs A. McLean, A. N. Beattie and G. K. Hollier are not seeking re-election.
