MEETING DEBT OBLIGATIONS. BANKER’S CONDITIONAL STATEMENT, IMPROVEMENTS WITH NAZISM. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph .—-Copy riglit.) Received April 9, 8.35 a.m. BASLE, April 8. At a meeting of Germany’s five creditor countries, tbe president of the Reichsbank (Dr Schacbt), while insisting on the impossibility of Germany continuing tbe present arrangements regarding transfer payments, optimistically referred to the improvement in the economic situation since the Nazis’ advent to power. This included a decrease in unemployment and bankruptcies an increase in revenue and purchasing power, and a progressive reduction in the rates of interest. Dr Schaclit said that, if given time and not pressed unduly, Germany would be able to meet her obligations.
