’PLANES FOR AUSTRALIA.
Received March 14, 1.40 p.m. LONDON, March 13. It is understood that 18 Hawker Demon ’planes have been purchased for Australia; also that the right has been secured to manufacture them in Australia. They will be known as Australian Demons and will be capable of meeting Australian conditions. With heavy loads the machines have a speed of 175 to 180 miles an hour and a comfortable cruising speed of 150 miles an hour. >.
