FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
ACORN LODGE, U.A.O.D. The fortnightly meeting of the 'Acorn Lodge, U.A.0.D., was held last evening in the Coronation Hall, Terraco End. A.D. Bro. G. Laing presided over a good attendance. The officers and members of Oroua Lodge paid an official visit and were welcomed in the traditional Druidic manner. The delegates to the Friendly Societies Council and Dispensary Board made their reports. Arrangements are in hand to hold a Druids’ picnic on February 18; full particulars will be issued later. A ritual contest between a selected men’s team of Oroua Lodge and the officers of Acorn Lodge resulted in a narrow win for Acorn. The Oroua team are to be congratulated on their excellent showing. The judges, P.A.’s Bros. Elsmore, Butcher and Gulliver, were accorded a vote of thanks for their services. Much interest is being evinced in the forthcoming ritual contest between Oroua and Acorn lodges for the MathieBanks Shield and a large attendance is expected next lodge night. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the visitors.
