(From Our Own Correspondent.) WOODVILLE. Feb. 2. Miss Nancyo Caruthers, of Palmerston North, is the guest of Mr and Mrs T. Court, Woodville. Mr T. L. Finer, who lias been spending part of the school holidays in Woodville, returned to Auckland yesterday accompanied by his sister. Two strong rinks from the Pabiatua Bowling Club visited Woodville on Wednesday in quest of the handsome Oxley Cup and returned with the trophy.

Willoughby, of Ross Street, ' was hostess at an enjoyable party given on Saturday afternoon in honour of the 87th birthday of Mrs Cheyno. Mrs Cheyne is one of Woodville’s earliest settlers. She was the recipient of a beautiful bouquet of 1 sweet peas and gypsophila. Air J. Stewart : on behalf of the guests congratulated her on attaining such a great age and ex- j pressed the wish that she would be spared for many more years. A dainty afternoon tea was served, a special feature being two i birthday cakes, one made by Mrs Willoughby and another decorated with 87 j candles and made by Mrs Norman Smith. : While the guest of honour was cutting the I cake she was accorded musical honours.
