(From Our Own Correspondent.) m • BULLS. Sept. 25. The committee of the Bulls Bowline Club met on Friday evening, Mr J. H. Perrett presiding. Correspondence was read from several clubs extending invitations to send official rinks to their opening days, and it was resolved to be represented, the selection of rinks being left to the match committee. The secretary of the Oroua Bowling Club forwarded a list of proposed matches. j\lr A. F. Wimsett, bon. secretary of the Manawatu Bowling Centre, wrote regarding particulars of the club’s officials. The secretary was instructed to supply the information as soon as officials are appointed. Mr G. 11. Archer, lion, treasurer, presented the balance-sheet of the ball, which was adopted, it being considered that the net profit was very satisfactory. Mr Archer also presented the annual report and bal-ance-sheet, which was adopted. The club is holding its own, and several new members will bo proposed at tho annual meeting. The green will probably be officially opened on October 11. It was reported that 1 tho green is in fine condition, and the surrounding lawns and flower beds never looked better. Another good season is anticipated. It lvas resolved to add to the number of the club’s life members, and an announcement which is- sure to find favour will be made at the annual meeting of members. The committee of tho Tennis Club met on Friday also, Mr A. W. Amon presiding. Tho balance sheet for the ball was * read and adopted, votes of thanks being accorded tho secretaries and their committees. The cutting of willows at tho sides of tho courts was left to the discretion of the president and the secretary, and tho edging to the ground - committee; also tho matter of concrete under tho netting. It was do-. cided to hold a “working bee” to mend the netting, etc., the ladies to attend to tho nets and all members to assist. The secretary presented a rough draft of the report and balance-sheet, which was approved, members expressing themselves as well satisfied with the state of the finances. Endeavours will be made to arrange a match with Levin for tho Linklater Cup on Labuor Day. After a discussion it was. agreed that the prospects for the coming season were very bright. Numerous new members are being enrolled, and a recommendation was passed to the incoming committee to devise means to encourage beginners and weak players to improve their tennis. The L.G.U. Medal match of the Ladies’ Golf Club, postponed from Thursday on account of wot weather, will be played on Tuesday. Closing day will be hold on September 28. Canadian foursomes will be played, followed by tea and the presentation of trophies. On Wednesday last a match was played with members of the Castlecliff Club, Rangifikei winning by 7 games to 3, two being halved. Details are as follow, homo players being mentioned first: Miss McKenzie halved with Miss Quarterman, Miss Tricker won from Miss Wilson, Mrs McDonell halved with Mrs Dean, Mrs Hendry won from Mrs Smith, Mrs Dean lost to Miss Kendrick, Miss Perrett won from Mrs J. O’. Brown, Miss McKelvie won from Mrs Bristil, Miss Bailey lost to Mrs Broadhead, Mrs Carter won from Mi’s Braid, Miss Amon won from Mrs A. Brown, Miss Price won from Mrs Jones, Mrs Russell lost to Mrs Newham.
