ROUND-TABLE CLUB.
WOMEN’S ORGANISATION FORMED. The decision to form a Round-Table Club to meet fortnightly in the evening was made at a meeting of a group of business and professional women of Palmerston North, last evening. Miss McLagan presided over a large attendance at the Y.W.C.A. club rooms. Miss Ashton, secretary of the Y.W.C.A., and convener, outlined the preliminary arrangements leading up to the meeting and tho objects of the proposed club, which were briefly, she stated, the honest and impartial study of current affairs and to make the effort, through personal development, to take a more adequate share in the moulding of community life. It was agreed that at the first meeting “Disarmament” should be the subject for discussion, Miss Ashton being authorised to secure a speaker. Other business included the question of subscription, and details concerning the first meeting. A vote of thanks to Miss McLagan was conveyed by Mrs Christian.
