VISITOR ENTERTAINED.
WIFE OF MUSIC EXAMINER. A delightful gathering was held in the Rosco tearoom, yesterday afternoon, when members of the Palmerston North Girls’ Music Club entertained Mrs Tyrer, who is visiting Palmerston North, with her husband, Mr A. Tyrer, examiner for the Trinity College of Music, London. Mrs J. K. Paton, president of the club, received Mrs Tyrer, and Miss Mavis Buchanan (secretary) presented her with a dainty posy. A dainty tea was served at a table artistically ornamented with Iceland poppies. Proceedings were delightfully informal and the members had the opportunity, of chatting with Mrs Tyrer and hearing of musical activities in other parts of the world. Mrs Tyrer is a gifted violinist, and it is hoped that she and her talented _ husband may be prevailed upon to give a recital in Palmerston North when they return to this centre in November. Mrs Tyrer studied the instrument in and also with Saure, the eminent French teacher. Other members of the club present were Mrs R. Law, Mrs H. Dean, Misses Mavis Buchanan, N. Whalley, E. Corke, Elvira Wycherley, Dorothy Stevens, Joan Paton, M. Muirhead, G. McKenzie, F. Howley, Z. Leamy, V. Wood, A. Noble, V. Gunter, M. S. Grant and B. Oakley. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs J. Fisher, Misses M. Gray, I. Clarke, M. Dumbleton, C. McGibbon, V. Corke, P. Liddell, E. Tankersley, L. McDonald, Connie Wood, G. Laurenson, E. Trask and G. Cameron.
