Dr. Helen Deem is to leave Wanganui this week for Nelson. Later Dr. Deem will go to Wellington to take ifp a position at the Wellington Hospital. Mrs Ronald Abraham has returned to Palmerston North after a visit to Christchurch. Miss Iris Coles, of Marton, who lias been an inmate of an hospital in V anganui for several weeks, has returned to her home. Mrs E. C. Barnett was the hostess at a very pleasant “cabin tea,” on Friday, for Miss Dorothy Rodgers who is leaving for England shortly after i her marriage next month. Among those present were Mrs T. J. Rodgers, Mrs C. King, Mrs Mason (Feilding), Miss Joan Barnett, Misses Mona and Babette Rodgers, Barbara Stuckey (Dannevirke), May and Joyce Akers, Joan Gaisford, Ruby Gillies, Nancye and Molly Nathan, Struan Macplierson, Olga Wall, Nancy and Peggy Bagnall and Beryl Oakley. Miss Rodgers was the recipient of some delightful presents and many good wishes. Miss Oliver Kay, of Dunedin, who recently won the Australian ladies’ golf championship, intends attending the annual championships of the Manawatu Ladies' Golf Club which open on October 4. Miss Kay, who will be the guest of Mrs J. R. Galloway during her stay, will arrive in Palmerston North at the week-end. The New South Wales golf champion, Miss Odette Lefebvrc, underwent an operation for appendicitis recently. Miss Lefebvre competed in the recent Australian women’s championship at Melbourne, being defeated by Miss Joan Hammond in the semi-final round. Miss Lefebvre won the New South Wales title in 1931 and again this year.
