THIEVES IN GOODS SHED.
AVAIHI RAILWAY STATION. QUANTITY OE TOBACCO TAKEN. WAIHI, Sept. 25. Some time between the closing hours of Friday evening and Saturday morning the goods shed at the Waihi railway station was broken into and a quantity of tobacco was stolen from a case containing mainly groceries. A parcel of drapery was also tampered with and part of the goods extracted. Everying was left safe when the shed was closed on Friday evening, and the theft was discovered when the porter opened up in the morning. In April last the office was broken into and an attempt was made on the safe, but so loud was'the explosion that the would-be thief or thieves became alarmed and decamped without waiting to ascertain the result.
