(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON. Sept. 23. Mr N. A. Ross has returned to Fcilding after spending a holiday with his brother, Mr W. J. Ross, of Poplar. Miss Marston, of Blenheim, is spending a holiday with her brother, Mr R. J. Marston. At the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute the chair was taken by Mrs J. G. llonore (vice-president). Mrs Ilonore eulogised the work of Mrs Symons who had been secretary since the institute was formed over three years ago, and had now resigned. Mrs Trueman and Miss E. Barber were elected to fill. the vacancy in the meantime. It was decided to place on record Mrs Symons's services. Members of the Shannon Institute then conducted the meeting. The programme included an entertaining Wish Wynne story, “Robinson Crusoe” by Mrs Nicol; Mrs Barber and Mrs Cronquest sang two duets; “The 2nd Minuet” and “April is a Lady,” the accompaniment being played by Mrs Bovis. A play entitled “Mary’s Dismissal” was excellently staged and acted. Instructive demonstrations on silver paper pictures wore ably given by, Mrs Nicol. Competition winners .were: —Mrs Blythe 1, Mrs F. Procter 2, Miss M. Barber 3. A duchess set and traycloth donated by Miss Thomas was won by Mrs Waring Taylor (Shannon) and Mrs W. Anderson. The following acted as hostesses: Mcsdames Raikes, R, and C. Robinson, and W. and M. Ross, Charles Robinson, Robbie, Riches, H. Reid and the Misses Speirs.
