LINTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) LINTON, Sept. 23. At the weekly shoot of the Linton District Rifle Club the following scores were recorded ;-—D. Mcßrearty, 99—39—138; 0. Batchelar, 99—37—136; F. Haley 96—40 —136; M. Wilson, 96—39—135; G. Merriman. 96—39—135; R. Craw, 96—39—135; C. Pearson, 97—38 —135; L. Wilson, 97 37—134; M. Craw, 94—39—133; R. Batchclar, 95—38—133; G. Wilson, 78—34—112. Mr F. Cahill, of Linton, has returned home after a six months’ holiday in Australia. The deepest sympathy has been extended to Mrs Jensen and family, also Misses D. and W. Adams, in their recent bereavements. Constable and Mrs G. Wilson, of New Plymouth, are spending a holiday with relatives in Linton. Last Friday evening the Linton Tennis Club committee held a meeting in the hall to discuss matters in connection with tho annual meeting which will be held at an early date, also tho state of the courts, and the whist drive evenings which were commenced some time back. Several accounts were passed for payment. Members of the Women’s Institute players taking part in “Lonesomcliko” left this morning for Wellington where they will compete in tho Drama League Festival. Mrs D. Currin also accompanied them.
