VALUABLE DIAMONDS.
SOUTH AMERICAN DISCOVERIES. Received September 23, 8.40 a.m. NEW YORK, Sept. 22. The New York Times’s correspondent at Rio de Janiero says that a prospector in the upper water of the Saobento River in the State of Minas Geraes, to-day reported fiiiding a diamond of 540 grammes over 2000 carats. It is appraised at 800,000 dollars and is believed to be the second largest recorded. Six other large stones, one of 400 carats, were also found, the total value being 1,000,000 dollars.
