HANDSOME SHIELD.
EXPORT LAAIB COAIPETITION. Handsomely executed in oxidised silver on a beautiful oak background, the North Island Challenge Shield, presented by the New Zealand Aleat Producers’ Board for district competition in export lambs, has just been received by the Alanawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association. AVon in 1932 by Alanawatu and this year by AVairarapa, the shield was recently forwarded to New Zealand from Sheffield. The suggestion lias been made by the Aleat Board that it should be lield by the Manawatu A. and P. Association, as the first winner, for three months, and then handed on to the Alasterton A. and P. Association as representing the AVairarapa district. However, Alanawatu hope to annex the shield again on the next occasion. A feature of the shield, which finishes to scrolled corners, is the unusual design of the plating, which shows in relief a realistic representation of a group of sheep, and, below, prize carcases of lambs on the hooks. Altogether the trophy is a very fine piece of craftsmanship.
