DEATH OF COMMANDER BROOKS.
An open verdict was returned at the inquest on the former P. and 0. commander, Cecil Brooks, who retired in February (says a London message). He visited Holland to buy ships on behalf of the Egyptian Government, and boarded a steamer for home on June 17. He was not seen again until his body was found at Tersclrelling a month later. His widow wanted to tender evidence of foul play, but the coroner ruled that it would be futile.
