ROLLS OF HONOUR
WARNING TO RELATIVES. Per Press Association. WELLING!ON, Sept. 21. Relatives of deceased New Zealand soldiers are warned to be cautious in sending money to unofficial overseas organisations for the purchase of socalled “rolls of honour,” by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. J. A. Young, in a statement issued yesterday. The Minister said he had been advised that such organisations were still operating, and in this connection he directed public attention to a circular which had been received from the Imperial War Graves Commission. This stated: “Numerous complaints have been received concerning organisations in France which send through the post the roll of honour or ‘golden emblem’ to relatives of soldiers buried in the British war cemeteries or commemorated on memorials to the missing. The ‘roll of honour’ or ‘golden emblem’ consists of a printed sheet having photographs of certain British or Dominion monuments and cemeteries upon it, and pasted in the centre a slip cut from the official registers published by the commission containing the name and particulars of the soldier in whom the addressee is interested. It is accompanied by a printed circular letter inviting the recipient to send 2s 6d.”
