WELCOME RAINFALL.
Commencing last night after a strong north-west wind had died away’, a steady rain set in in Feilding and district, and was still falling at a late hour this morning. The fall will bo gladly’ welcomed by farmers who were becoming anxious about their spring sown crops. Pastures will also be freshened and with a continuation of the mild weather accompanying the rain to-day, the grass will come away quickly’. The wind y’esterday almost reached gale force, the gusts experienced on the high country in the vicinity of Kiwitea and Kimbolton being very strong. Although the country’side is showing signs of a good spring, stock in some cases are in somewhat poor condition, this probably’ being due to over-stocked properties.
