ROAD CYCLING.
AMATEURS HOLD CONTEST. The road cycle race conducted, by the Manawatu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club yesterday attracted a field of nine riders, the course being round the Feilding, Awahuri, Kopane, Kairanga block, a distance of 31 miles. The result was: —A. McGregor (6min.) 1. E. Woollett (7min.) 2, G. Little (2min.) 3. Fastest time went to Little, who negotiated the journey in lhr 29min. 30 2-ssec., with McGregor, lhr 31min. ssecs., and Woollett, lhr 32min. 5 l-ssec., next in order. The other starters were L. Astin, L. Tantrum, T. Ratcliffe, G. Esau, N. Hyde and F. Manning. PROFESSIONAL RACE. The Counties’ Cash Cycling Club will stage the final race prior to the 100mile open event on Saturday week, when a race to Aslihurst and. return will be held next Saturday. The field will be sent away from Terrace End at 2.15 p.m. and the distance will be 14 miles. Handicaps have, been declared as under, and any rider not mentioned will be handicapped on the mark: —W. Rodgers Bmin., W. Smith 6, B. Mcßrearty 5), C. Bailey and A. Ganderton 4, W. Collins and M. Lux-* more 3.
