WILLARD HOME BALL.
AN ENJOYABLE FUNCTION. Held as a means of augmenting the funds of the Willard Children’s Home Board, the ball held in the De Luxe Hall last night proved to be thoroughly enjoyable. Old-time and modern dancing was indulged in, while the inclusion of novelty dances enhanced the interest of the large company of patrons, who danced to the strains of music supplied by a professional orchestra. Extra*numbers were supplied by Mrs F. A. Wollerma.n and Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., while the duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr F. A. Wollerman. Supper was served in the gallery, while ices and cool drinks found readv purchasers. A strong committee made every effort to cater for their guests, while their preparatory activities had extended over a period of some weeks.
Those responsible for the effort were Mrs D. Watson, the organiser, who wore a burgundy lace frock and coatee; Mrs F. J. Nathan, beige lace; Mrs J. A. McLeavey, black chiffon velvet frock and coatee, with scarlet shoulder spra.y; Mrs S. Orr, raisin brown lace; Mrs A. J. McLeavey, black lace, cherry velvet coatee; Mrs Mitchell, black lace and georgette, lame coatee; Mrs Symons, black lace and georgette; Mrs Coleman, black marocain; Mrs Shelley, black velvet and lace; Miss Symons, black velvet; Mrs Barling (secretary), black lace and georgette; also Messrs F. J. Nathan, T. Simpson, J, Selwyn, F. A. Wollerma.n, W. G. Black, Purves, Robertson, A. J. McLeavey, Shelley and D. Watson. Among those present were the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs Mansford, the latter wearing black satin with white fur evening coat; Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., Mrs Birdsall, secretary of the Willard Home Board, in saxe blue figured crepe-de-chine; Miss Anderson, matron of the Willard Home, in black lace and georgette; also Miss Pearce, sub-matron, in brown marocain.
The winners of the lucky Gay Gordons were Miss M. Cook and Mr S. Orr.
