WEDDING.
HANCE—BUCHANAN. On August 30, at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Palmerston North, Beni Lynne, second daughter of Mrs L. Buchanan, Kelvin Grove, and of the late Sergeant P. K. Buchanan, N.Z.E.F., was married to Lawrence Robert, only son of Mrs J. Millen, Picton, anti of the late Mr R. E. Hance, Sussex, England. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. N. Scotter, B.A.
Wearing a- beautiful ivory satin gown cut on long classical lines with a hand-worked veil lent for the occasion, - the bride entered the church on the arm of her brother. She carried a shower bouquet of spring blossoms and was attended by the bridegroom’s sister, Miss May Hance, as bridesmaid, dressed in a full length model frock of apple green lace with shoes to match, and bouquet and hat in soft pastel tonings. Little Betty McFarlane and Elaine Smith, relatives of the bride, daintily attired in peachcoloured georgette with posies and bandeaux in golden shades, were the flower girls. Mr A. R. Annear, of Featherston, was best man. Mrs McNeilly, a friend of the bride, officiated at the organ. As the party left the church, Miss Marie Mazengarb, of Wellington, presented the bride with a decorated silver horseshoe.
A reception was held at the Broadway Lounge, Mrs Buchanan receiving her guests in a black flowered marocain gown and holding a posy of mauve and purple flowers. The bridegroom’s mother wore a black satin coat over a floral dress, and carried a pink posy. A feature of the table was the handsome wedding cake made and presented by Mr Millen. The bridal couple left on a tour of the north, the bride’s travelling dress being of moss green satin beaute with hat of Angora felt, and shoes and bag of watersnake. The bouquets were made by the mother and sister of the bridegroom.
