LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
APPOINTMENTS ANTICIPATED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. Although immediate appointments to the Legislative Council are unlikely, it is anticipated that the present strength of the Upper House will be increased at a comparatively early date by some seven or eight members. The desirability of bringing the strength of the Chamber up to at least 30 members has been strongly urged in influential Government circles. It is possible that the new list of appointments will contain the names of several former members of the Legislative Council.
