PRICE IMPROVEMENT.
MR FORBES GRATIFIED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. Gratification at the improvement in prices in the Old Country was expressed by the Prime Minister (lit. Hon. G. W. Forbes), when speaking this evening at a reception accorded him and Hon. R. Masters by the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association. Mr Forbes said the most encouraging feature of the healthier trade outlook was that there had, been 1 , no sudden jump, but a -gradual upward trend. One was justified in the view, he said, that at last there was a little sunshine coming through the clouds. Mr Forbas gave a resume of the World Conference and paid a glowing tribute to the statesmanlike manner in which the British delegates presented their case. It made one very proud, he said, to belong to the British Empire.
