Round (Britain) beat Mrs Ethel Arnold (Los Aiigeles), 7—5, 6—2. EXHIBITION MATCHES. LOS ANGELES, Sept, 19. Crawford and McGrath, who are staying here for a brief period en route to Australia, will play exhibition matches to-morrow. Crawford and Turnbull will play Nunoi and Perry and McGrath plays Billy Seward, the Southern California interscholastic champion. FRENCHMEN’S TOUR. PARIS. Sept. 19. Cochet a.nd Plaa have undertaken to tour South America, giving lawn tennis exhibitions. They will probably be accompanied by the runner Ladoumegue. TENNIS FASHIONS. MDLLE. LENGLEN’S DISPLAY. LONDON. Sept. 19. Mdlle. Suzanne Lenglen, the famous French ex-champion tennis player, has opened a year’s engagement at Selfndge’s store. She gave demonstrations wearing a linen combination costume of her own invention, including a pair of shorts reaching three inches below the knees covered by a coat-like skirt buttoned back and front. Mdlle. Lenglen said she approved coatless shorts, “if worn privately, but in public, no.”
