NEW YORK EXCHANGE.
NEW YORK, . Sept. 20. Success for the projected New Jersey Stock Exchange to circumvent New York city taxes appeared assured today with the acceptance of 634 members of the New York unit of the invitation to join the new exchange. Indicating the unstable condition, the local market price for membership of the Stock Exchange was quoted at 150,000 dollars, a reduction of 50,000 dollars compared with the last quotation. Heavy city taxes threatened on stock market transactions may cause the removal of the Stock Exchange from its historic Wall Street location to some nearby State, stated a Now York message recently. In any event, it is believed to be certain that many large brokerage companies and individual operators will establish businesses elsewhere.
