NO RODS-IN-PICKLE

PREMIER’S ASSURANCE. THE COMING SESSION. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 20. ; An assurance that the Government s legislative programme for the session contains no rods-in-pickle for the country has been given by Mr Forbes. A fairly large number of Bills would be submitted, he said, but there is no surprise legislation. He expressed the opinion that, if no time were wasted in the debate it should he possible to complete the business by the end of November. Among the dropped Bills of session to be proceeded with was the Poultry Amendment Bill. In regard to the Government Superannuation Funds Bill no decision could be made regarding its form until the House received the report of the Select Committee.' Probably the Government would reappoint the committee to enable it to complete its deliberations and present recommendations to the Government. There was a possibility Mr Forbes said, that the Electoral Amendment Bill providing for the permanent establishment of four-yearly Parliaments, would not be proceeded with this session if there were a pressure of business. It could wait till next session.
