ILLEGAL BETTING.
AUSTRALIAN RECOMMENDATIONS. Received September 20, 8.10 a.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 20. An inter-State conference of racing authorities being held in Sydney to deal with illegal betting recommends the Governments to legislate against the use of telephones by. betting shops, the prohibition of broadcasting or publishing of betting odds until the completion of the day’s racing and also professional tipping by newspapers which exist solely for that purpose.
