HINKLER MEMORIAL.

UNVEILING IN ITALY

Received September 18. 12.55 p.m. LONDON, Kept. 17. The Arezzo monument to SquadronLeader Bert Hinkler was unveiled at Pnssdellavachie at an altitude of 3200 feet. It was designed by the architect Belleri and is in the form of a seven foot column whereon lictors’ fasces are crossed by a Roman eagle in flight. It is inscribed: “To the long distance flier Herbert Hinkler, who fell here 8/1/XI,” the la.st figures standing for the eleventh yca.r of the Fascist era.

The distinguished assemblage included Colonel Stevens, British military attache at Rome.
