Final: McKay beat Gordon. Light-heavyweight. —Final: F. Bell (Greymouth), 12.0, beat J. Ford (Wellington), 11.11. Middleweight.—F’inal: H. E. Neal (Auckland) 11.5, beat F. Rogitski (Taranaki), 11.24, last year’s holder. The mast spectacular bout of the evening was rhe final in the heavyweight class between Dasler (Marlborough) and Lindesay, who, though boxing for Auckland, is a naval rating. Both stoud in the centre of the ring most of the time trading blow for blow, and had the crowd ill wild excitement, especially when the judges announced the verdict in favour of the local man, although it must have been by a very narrow margin. Uoguski (Taranaki) yielded the middleweight title to Neal (Auckland; after a rather dreary exhibition in which the Aucklander nicely shaded his opponent. Neither is a scientific boxer.

C. liayner brought Marlborough the second championship by annexing the feather title from Hawes, but there was not much in it, and many of the crowd would not have been surprised if the verdict had gone the other way. A really unpopular verdict was that in which McKay (Gisborne) was given the decision in the flyweight over Gordon (Taranaki), for, although the winner was more rugged, Gordon seemed to do most of the work. The judges were probably impressed by McKay’s clean hitting. W. Francis (Otago) and R. Purdic (Auckland) fought a very close fight m tire lightweight, and' the decision in the Auck’ancier’s favour was no. received with universal approval. However, he showed more finish tliai his opponent, who relied largely 01: his obvious superiority in strength. W. Ptirdie and Candy put up a,nice exhibition in the welter title, but the Aucklander was always a shade ahead on points. The tournament was a great success from all points of view, there being packed houses throughout. To-day the visitors left on ail excursion to the Marlborough Sounds in delightful weather.

ABSENCE OF REEVES.

The Mansi watu light-heavyweight and heavyweight champion, H. Reeves, of Pahiatua, did not proceed to Blenheim to defend his New Zealand light-heavyweight title, owing to his having fractured a small bone in his right hand at the Manawatu championships recently.
