RACING AT MARTON.
SPRING FIXTURES OPEN
The Marton Racing Club will usher in the spring activities on Wednesday when a programme of eight events will be presented. Marking as it does the first appearance of the two-year-old brigade, considerable interest will be centred in the youngsters in view of future classic events, although history has shown that early two-year-old form is far from reliable as a guide to later racing. Without exception, the fields have filled well, the Malden Race having attracted no less than 24 —one below tho maximum allowed —and an excellent day’s sport is promised patrons. Tho principal event, tho Marton Handicap, has drawn the smallest field for the day, but this is more than counter-balanced in the other races and the presence of a number of northern horses will add to the interest. Tho opening event has been set down for noon.
