APPRECIATION OF MANY HELPERS’ SERVICES. Matters arising out of the recent search for the four visiting trampers in the Tararuas were dealt with at a meeting of the committee of the LevinWaiopehu Tramping Club. The following letter, which had been received by the president from the mother of the Wellington member of the party, was reaid: —“l wish to express niy most sincere thanks and appreciation of the wonderful and untiring efforts of the members of your club in the search for the missing trampers, one of whom was my son. At the present time my son is confined to his bed in hospital for an indefinite period and unable to attend to any business matters. Assuring you of the gratitude of myself and family, —Yours sincerely, A. O’Keefe.” The sum of £2 10s was received from the Manawatu Tramping Club, as a contribution towards the expenses of the local club in connection with the search. The Manawatu Club also thanked the Levin Club for its work in connection with the search.

A subscription list, which has been taken round in Levin, in aid of local expenses, was handed in with the proceeds amounting to £5 10s. —It was decided to pay the jrrovision bills, tolls and all incidental expenses connected with the search.

Members spoke in appreciation of the help ■ rendered by car owners in conveying searchers to and from the Pipe Bridge; also those who had assisted in any may. The motorists were Messrs A. BiJlens, J. W. Bagrie, H. Walker, H. G. Kerslake, A. Harvey, A. H. Maclean, G. L. Adkin and J. Porter.

A resolution was passed thanking Mr G. Bundle for his great hospitality in making the Levin Hotel available to searchers returning from the hills, and providing them with hot baths and hot meals before they proceeded to their homes. The club was very appreciative of the help thus given, which greatly facilitated the arrangements at the Levin end.

Special mention was made of the two local wireless experts, Messrs E. H. Humphrey and S. Taylor, whose help had been of great value; of Mr Trevor Gabriel (Palmerston North), who had done wonderful work at Te Matawai.hut as radio operator in keeping up communication between the searchers and the outside world, and thus helping the arrangements of the local club, among other organisations.
