A most enjoyable day was spent at Te Arakura on Wednesday by the Whakarongo and Te Arakura tennis teams when they played their second friendly match of this season. After a hard fight Whakarongo returned homo defeated. A dainty afternoon tea was provided by the Te Arakura team. Results arc as follow, the To Arakura players being mentioned first: —Ladies’ singles: Miss E. Whisker beat Miss M. Vautier, 6 —3; Mrs Johnston lost to Miss E. Woodd, 3—6; Miss 11. Bennett beat Oxenham, B—7;8 —7; Miss E. Bennett bent Miss IL Clinton, 6—4. Men’s singles:- D. Johnston lost to S. Oxenham, 4—6; D. Lower lost to W. Vautier, 2—6; E. Whisker lost to R. Gibbs, I—6;1 —6; A. Cnrthew beat P. Koehler, 6 —2. Ladies’ doubles: Miss Whisker and Mrs Johnston beat Misses Vautier and Woodd, 6 —4; Misses H. and E. Bennett beat Mrs Oxeriham and Miss Clinton, 6 —3. Men’s doubles: D. Johnston and D. Lewer lost to S. Oxenham and W. Vautier, 4 —6; E. Whisker and A. Carthow lost to R. Gibbs and P. Koehler, 4—6. Mixed doubles: D. Johnston and Mrs Johnston beat W. Vautier and Miss E. Woodd, 6 —3; D. Lewer and Miss Whisker beat S. Oxenham and Miss M. Vautier, 6 —2; E. Whisker and Miss H. Bennett lost to R. Gibbs and Mrs Oxenham, 2—6; A. Oart-hew and Miss E. Bennett boat P. Koehler and Miss H. Clinton, 7—5. Sets: Whakarongo 7, To Arakura 9; games, Whakarongo 75, Te Arakura 77. The competitions have started again and Whakarongo are to ' meet Longburn in a B grade match on Saturday. The followwill take, place at Longburn. The following is the local team: L. Little, S.
