Welcomes were extended to the Victorian farmers by Mr C. G. C. Dermer (president of the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association) and by Mr J. A. Russell (president of the Manawatu Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Club), which undertook full arrangements for the transport of the visitors in this district. Following upon the dinner on Tuesday evening, some 30 of the farmers were conveyed to farms adjacent to Palmerston North. They inspected the pedigree Jersey cattle and stud Romney flock of Mr J. A. Mitchell at Longburn, and paid a visit to the property of Mr J. A. Russell, Gillespie’s Line, where they saw his Jersey cattle, Southdown sheep and Canadian Berkshire pigs.
