GLEN OROUA.

(From Our Own Corrosnondent.) GLEN OROUA, Jan, 25. The usual monthly meeting of the School Committee was held in the schoolroom on Monday night, when there were present: Messrs W. A. Boswell (chairman), W. C. Scot? (secretary), P. 11. Farland, J. F. Nolan, J. Herdman and S. G. Parlane (head teacher). Mr E. F. Hemingway, chairman of the Wanganui Education Board, who had recently made a toui of tho schools in the board’s district, wrote commending the committee for the splendid work carried out at the school, He stated that he work seen was boyotid praise and the welfare of the children was in safe hands. Tho head teacher stated that the school would reopen after tho vacation on Wednesday, February 1, and it was therefore decided to hold tho annual school pienic on Mr 11. J. Lancaster’s property on Friday, February 3rd, comniencin gat 10.30 a.in. Tho chairman and the secretary agreed to cart tho necessary forms, tables, etc., from the looal hall to the picnic grounds, while the remaining members attended to tbe oatering arrangements. The head teacher was asked to convoy the thanks of the committee to Mr J. Wheeler for again offering to take charge of . the adults’ sports programme at the picnic. Mattors in connection with tho school swimming sports to bo hold in February were held over in the meantime. Accounts totalling £6 10s 6d were passed for payment. Tennis ladder competition matches this week resulted as follow: Parlane beat Ihle, 7—3; Miss M. Prebble beat Miss B. Wheeler, 7—3. A return tennis match with tho Rangiotu Club will be played at Glen Clroua Saturday afternoon.
