BULLS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Jan., 25. Mrs Alex. McGregor is spending a holiday in Wellington, and Miss Zclma McGregor has gone to Christchurch. Mrs G. Gifford has returned from Wanganui, and her daughter, Mrs A. J. Montgomerie, is still holidaying there. Mr Lcs. Hillicr is away on annual leave, and is visiting Napier. A number of interesting games have been played this week on tho Bulls bowling green. Results of tho principal ones arc as follow: —Dwyer, Drow (skip) 18 lost to Hillicr, Crouchor (skip) 25; Ellery, Wilson, Stevens, Ransom (skip) 22 beat Pcrrett Dwyer, Archer, Crouchor (skip) 19. Forthcoming engagements include games against St. John’s .Workingmen’s Club (at Bulls); against Takaro (home and away) ; and against Feilding Bowling Club (at Bulls). The locally trained horses, Diatomous and Bon Rapido, which racod unsuccessfully at the Wellington mooting, woro brought home on Tuesday, and on the trip up Bon Rapide sustained a deep gush in tho forehead through striking some part of the box on the train. Broken Rule, another member of the Trcntham team, was railed right through to Auckland, and will fulfil engagements at the Takapuna meeting. Local athletes aro getting into form for tho Bnlls-Ohakea annual sports meeting, and at Marton this week R. Ellery won a cycle race, and R. Simpkin and L F. Homos were placed in their engagements.
Thoro is a movement on foot to erect swimming baths on tho Domain, and tho project is being warmly advocated by the Town Board and tho School Committee. There is a good supply of fresh wator on tho spot, and baths would be a boon to both young and old. There was some excitement in a Parewanui household ,on Anniversary Day when by an unfortunate mishap a young lady visiting friends there swallowed a quantity of disinfectant. Tho sufferer, after first aid had boon rendered, was convoyed, to Wanganui Hospital, and her condition’ is said to bo causing her friends great anxiety. Mr T. Miller, who injured a wrist recently through falling from a cart, tho horse attached to which had bolted, is still feeling tho offects of his fall, and it will bo some weeks before he is fit to resume work. Mr J. Bell, who has been seriously ill for some weeks, is reported to be in a very low condition.
