MANY EARTH TREMORS.
ASSAM DISTURBED. Received December 6. 9.35 a.m. CALCUTTA, Dec. 5. A long series of earth tremors which has been disturbing Assam shows no sign of abatement, Dhubri, which appears to be the centre of the disturbance, continuing to register one daily, while it is reported that a hill in the Gard range in Assam has become ac tive, smoke issuing from the crest, The experts do not anticipate danger, believing that, although Assam is on a volcanic chain, there is no cause for alarm.
